A DEVASTATING FLOOD HITS in NADIA

Nadia, 1st July: A devastating flood hits in many parts of Nadia like Santipur, Fulia, Ranaghat, Nabadwip. According to the official source heavy rain fall increased the water-level of Ganga and the excessive water flourished in the both sides of the river. The source added that the high current of the water collapsed many mud-walled houses, washed away many cattle, crops and many people. Among of them 15 people including 5 women and a children died. It is suspected that the total loss of crops stands near about 5 crores rupees. So many people have been houseless. The Block officials fears that if more flood-victims are displaced, the administration will face difficulties in providing shelter for them. The Government has taken some necessary steps. Tents, dry food, drinking water, medicines are being distributed among the victims. Helicopters have been engaged. The current system and the communication has totally been suspended. Various social organizations have extended their helping hand. According to the latest news the victims are being moved to the safe place and the relief work is going on.
