What did Kalam say about the mosque in his locality? What did his father say to him about the benefits of prayer?

Answer:    In Rameswaram, there was a very old mosque near Kalam’s ancestral house. As he belonged to a Muslim family, his father used to take him to that mosque for evening prayer. Little Kalam did not understand the faintes meaning of Arabic prayers chanted in the mosque. But he believed very much that those prayers reached the God.

When little Kalam asked his father about the benefits of prayer, his father told him that there was nothing mysterious about the prayer. Rather it established a communication among the soul of people as when someone prayed, he or she became a part of the cosmos transcending the earthly presence of his or her. It helped one to be generous and free from all earthly bounds as there was no division of wealth, age, caste or creed in the cosmos.

Question 2: What was Kalam’s thought about Arabic Namaz/ Prayer prayed in the mosque?

Answer:    See the first para of above stated answer.
