"Should she stray from virtues way / The world will scorn, and its scorn can slay."— Explain.

"Should she stray from virtues way /
The world will scorn, and its scorn can slay."- Explain.

In the poem The Orphan Girl, the poet had described a girl's pathetic sorrowful condition. That girl was an orphan. Her parents died at her infant stage. She had no one to talk to her, to care of her or to offer her shelter and food. Her society was ignoring her completely. That girl was about to die. At that time, she could not come out of our virtue's way to earn her livelihood as she had much shame. On the other hand, the society that did not take care of her, would not forget to scorn her. It was the reality. And that scorn might kill her.
