Pre-writing
Pre-writing is the first stage of writing where ideas and topics are collected and developed. This stage has so many phases that are furnished below:
i. Topic Selection: While writing a writing, topic selection is the most mandatory and vital task to do. Sometimes, teacher may offer the student a topic. In many cases, the writer chooses the topic understanding necessity of society, present time etc. (If the selection of topic goes wrong, the whole writing may get spoilt.) Suppose, the topic is ‘Corona pandemic’. In this case, it is very relevant to the world’s present situation.
ii. Plan outline/ Visual Pre-writing: After selecting the topic, one has to think of the outline of the writing. A sample outline of the topic ‘Corona Pandemic’ is given below to understand it better-

iii. Gathering of the content: As soon as planning outline is completed, the information regarding the outline points need to be gathered and these may be gathered in the following two methods:
Brainstorming: Brainstorming is an informal way to gather content while writing. It is a technique used to inspire creative thinking and develop ideas in mind related to the topic. There should not be any pressure to be "brilliant". He or she should simply open his or her minds to whatever freely come to mind. Suppose the topic is "Corona Virus" and through Brainstorming, the following points may come in mind-
Pandemic cases in the world
How Corona has changed lives of million.
The Scenes of hospital all over the world
Restless services of doctors and others, etc.
Clustering: Clustering is a technique to make a broad or elaborate subject into a limited and more manageable topic for short writing. It is a technique that can be used to generate ideas in writing. It is also called diagramming, webbing, looping or mapping. This method helps to write the main points in a form of diagram.
iv. Use of proper language with appropriate vocabulary: In the next stage, the proper language with proper use of vocabulary is set in mind for the selected topic so that the topic becomes acceptable for everyone and its purposes become clear to the readers.
