GERMANY ANNIHILATE BRAZIL
--by a staff reporter,
Belo Horizonte, 9 July: The Brazil vs Germany football match that took place yesterday at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was the first Semi-final match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Both teams reached the stage with an undefeated record in the competition. The game was led by Mexican referee Marco Rodríguez. World Cup hosts Brazil were crushed 7-1 by Germany in their semifinal encounter on Tuesday. Brazil’s cup campaign was all but finished after Germany registered four goals in six minutes in the first half. Goals from Toni Kroos (24’, 26’), Andre Schurrle (69’, 79’), Thomas Mueller (11’), Miroslav Klose (23’) and Sami Khedira (29’) were more than what was required by the Germans against a lackluster Brazilian squad, who were missing the services of Neymar and Thiago Silva. Oscar scored the only goal for Brazil. Miroslav Klose became the highest scorer in World Cup history with 16 goals from 23 matches. Germany's win marked the largest margin of victory in a FIFA World Cup semi-final. Germany's Toni Kroos was selected Man of the Match. Germany will now face the winner of Wednesday’s semi-final at Sau Paulo, where Argentina will take on Netherlands.
