Why did Mother Teresa begin her lecture with the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi?

Answer: While receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, Mother Teresa began her lecture with the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. She did so because she knew that what was told in the prayer was very much fitting for everyone though it was composed in fifteenth or sixteenth century. The prayer reminded her that people had same difficulties in their life like the people of today. In this prayer, God was requested to bring harmony, light, faith, love in man’s daily life’s discord, darkness, doubt, hatred. So, through this prayer, Mother Teresa wanted to remind everyone present there the importance of love, faith, peace in life.
