GLACIAL OUTBURST IN UTTARAKHAND

Uttarakhand, Feb 8, 2021: Yesterday's horrible Glacial Outburst in Uttarakhand brings some horrible memories of cloudburst incident that took place in 2013 in Uttarakhand. According to the special source, a huge flood occurred in the Dhauli Ganga river when a part of Nanda Devi Glacier broke off and released the water trapped behind the ice of glacier. The eyewitness said that suddenly a huge flow of water came and washed away everything that stood in its way. The source added that, The Rishiganga power project on the Rishiganga river was completely damaged and 35 laborers working on the project are missing. The district of Chamoli in Uttarakhand was mostly affected by this. The Dhauliganga Dam was also washed away by the impact of floodwaters. The labourers who were working on those projects, got missing. The other places which were also affected are Joshimath, Nanda Devi National Park, Saldhar so on. Total death of 31 people has been recorded so far in this incident and around 200 people (mostly labourers) are still missing. NDRF teams have started rescue operation. 16 workers who were trapped inside the tunnel, so far have been rescued by them. High alert had been implemented in the nearby villages. The scientists have indicated the irregular climate change as the main reason behind this incident. Still the whole nation is shocked at this horrible incident.
