Write a letter to the Editor of an English daily about the problem faced by common people for narrow footbridge at the railway station during rush hours.

The Editor,

Kolkata—01.

Sir,

I shall be highly obliged if you kindly allow me a little space in the columns of your highly esteemed daily so that I may ventilate my opinion to draw the attention of the concerned / due authority about the problem faced by common people for narrow footbridge at the railway station during rush hours.

Men and women have to go out everyday for their livelihood or personal affairs and in our country, train is the most common means of transport. As a result, there always remains a huge crowd at the railway station. But the footbridges over the rail track are very narrow. Besides they are very weak and old modelled. During office hours, it is regularly seen that the footbridges get so much crowded that the footbridge begins to vibrate dangerously. Often, it rouses fear among the pedestrians and causes stampede and hundreds of people get injured and even die due to it every year all over the country. Sometimes, the hawkers and the beggars make the footbridge narrower to move. Due to its narrowness, people have to miss their train.

I, in view of all these, think that the rail authority should think over this problem so that the common people can use footbridge more safely.

Thanking you,

 Yours faithfully,
 Shreya Ghosh
