কবিতাটি 1798 সালের 13 ই জুলাই লেখা হয় এবং ওই বছরই Lyrical Ballads কাব্যগ্রন্থে প্রকাশিত হয়। এটি ওই কাব্যগ্রন্থের শেষ কবিতা।ওয়াই নদীর তীরে টিন্টার্ন অ্যাবে অবস্থিত।কবি 1793 সালে প্রথম ওখানে ভিজিট করেন এবং দ্বিতীয়বার যখন তিনি পাঁচ বছর পর ওই একই জায়গাতে ভিজিট করতে যান তখন তিনি এ কবিতাটি রচনা করেন। কবিতাটি রচনা করার সময় তার সঙ্গে ছিলেন তার বোন ডরোথি। টিন্টার্ন অ্যাবের প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য কবিকে মুগ্ধ করেন। এই স্থানটি ওয়াই নদী এবং সেভার্ন নদীর সঙ্গমস্থল থেকে দশ মাইল উপরে অবস্থিত।

Five years have past; five summers, with the length

These plots of cottage-ground, these orchard-tufts,

কুটিরের ফাকা উঠোন, ফলের বাগিচা

Which at this season, with their unripe fruits,

যেগুলি এই ঋতুতে ভরে থাকে অপক্ক

Are clad in one green hue, and lose themselves

সবুজ ফলে এবং সেই ফল গুলি নিজেদের মিশিয়ে ফেলেছে

'Mid groves and copses. Once again I see

ছোট বড় গাছের মধ্যে। আবার পুনরায় আমি দেখতে পাই

These hedge-rows, hardly hedge-rows, little lines   15

ঝোপের সারি গুলি, সেগুলি ঝোপের সারির মত ও না কারন

Of sportive wood run wild: these pastoral farms,

সেগুলি এখন জংলি গাছের মত বেড়ে উথেছেঃ এই গ্রাম্য খামার বাড়ি গুলির

Green to the very door; and wreaths of smoke

প্রায় প্রতিটি ঘরের দরজা পর্যন্ত সবুজ ঘাসে ভরে গেছে; ধোঁয়া গুলি কুণ্ডলী পাকিয়ে

Sent up, in silence, from among the trees!

নিঃশব্দে ওপরে উঠে আসছে গাছের মধ্যে দিয়ে!

With some uncertain notice, as might seem

সকলের অগোচরে হয়তো সেই ধোঁয়া গুলি আসছে

Of vagrant dwellers in the houseless woods,   20

কোন গৃহহীন যাযাবর দের থেকে যারা বনের মধ্যে আস্তানা গেড়েছে

Or of some Hermit's cave, where by his fire

অথবা সেই ধোঁয়া গুলি কোন সাধুর গুহা থেকে আসছে যেখানে আগুনের পাশে

The Hermit sits alone.

সেই সাধু একা বসে আছে।

These beauteous forms,

এই সুন্দর দৃশ্যটি

Through a long absence, have not been to me

এই দীর্ঘ অনুপুস্থিতির মধ্যে আমার কাছে মোটেও আমার দৃষ্টির বাইরে ছিলনা

As is a landscape to a blind man's eye:

But oft, in lonely rooms, and 'mid the din   25

As have no slight or trivial influence

On that best portion of a good man's life,

একজন ভালো মানুষের জীবনের অনেকটা অংশের ওপর থাকে

His little, nameless, unremembered, acts

যা ক্ষুদ্র , নামহীন , অগুনিত

Of kindness and of love. Nor less, I trust,   35

ভালোবাসা এবং দয়ার প্রভাবের মত। আমি অনেকটাই বিশ্বাস করি

To them I may have owed another gift,

সেই প্রকৃতির কাছ থেকে আমি আরও একাটা উপহার পেয়েছি

Of aspect more sublime; that blessed mood,

যা আরও মহিমান্বিত সেটি হল মনের সুখকর অবস্থা

In which the burthen of the mystery,

যার মধ্যে রহস্যময় গোটা পৃথিবীর সমস্যার ভার,

In which the heavy and the weary weight

যার মধ্যে প্রত্যহ জীবনের কষ্টের ভার

Is lightened:—that serene and blessed mood,

সেই সব ভারগুলি হাল্কা হয়ে যায়- ঐ নির্মল শান্তভাব

In which the affections gently lead us on,—

আমাকে চালিত করে নিয়ে যায়-

Until, the breath of this corporeal frame

যতক্ষণ না মাংসের শরীরের শ্বাসপ্রশ্বাস

And even the motion of our human blood

এবং এমনকি মানব দেহের রক্ত চলাচল

Almost suspended, we are laid asleep   45

পুরোপুরি বন্ধ হয়ে যায় এবং আমাদের বাধ্য করে পার্থিব অস্তিত্ত ভুলে যেতে

In body, and become a living soul:

এবং বাধ্যকরে দেহ ত্যাগ করে একটি জিবন্ত আত্মায় পরিণত হতেঃ

While with an eye made quiet by the power

যখন আমার মানস চক্ষু শান্ত হয়

Of harmony, and the deep power of joy,

We see into the life of things.

তখন আমি জীবনের মূল অর্থ বুঝতে পারি।
