Biography of Neeraj Chopra



India is full of talented people who have heightened the prestige and glory of their motherland and made every Indian proud with their deeds. Neeraj Chopra is one of them. Despite his young age, Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has already engraved his name in the history books by becoming the first and only track and field athlete from the country to win an Olympic medal – that too a gold.


He was born in Haryana on 24 December 1997. His parents are Satish Kumar and Saroj Devi. He got his graduation degree from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College, Chandigarh. He learned the basics of javelin throwing from Jaiveer Choudhary and other athletes. He won his first gold medal in the district championships. In 2012 National Junior Athletics Championships, he won gold. He started his international competition in 2013. He also won gold in 2017 Asian Athletics Championship. He did not participate in the 2019 World Championship due to some bone injury. But he did not give up and he participated at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and secured a Gold Medal in Javelin Throw on 7th of August, 2021 and made every Indian proud. On returning India, he was felicitated by whole India. We the Indians will never forget his achievement for nation.
